Synthetic Playfields Task Force

On March 26, 2008, the Recreation and Park Commission appointed the Synthetic Playfields Task Force to expand public awareness and understanding of available scientific research on health and environmental concerns associated with synthetic field materials.

The Task Force has three objectives:

  • Identify primary environmental and health concerns related to synthetic turf materials
  • Synthesize the relevant scientific research available
  • Provide feedback to the Department on our recommemdations to the Commission

Upon conclusion of the task force's deliberations, an archive of the task force's proceedings and final recommendations will be presented to the Commission in late June.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this task force, please e-mail Dawn Kamalanathan, Planning Director, at dawn.kamalanathan@sfgov.org
